What is a District Leader?

In New York, District Leaders are unpaid, volunteer, part-time, elected officials who serve two-year terms as the Democratic Party’s leaders in your neighborhood.

In the bronx

The Democratic Party’s District Leaders:

  • Work with local elected officials to get things done and help people in their District

  • Elect the chair of the Bronx Democratic Party, who plays a big role in determining the Party’s direction

  • Play a role in the judicial nomination process

  • Help get Democrats elected in the Bronx and beyond by recruiting volunteers and fundraising

  • Vote at county committee meetings, which gives them a say in how the Party works for you

  • Work with the Board of Elections to get people jobs as poll workers
